Ratings

Adding ratings to your On Demand content is easy!  Choose from thumbs up scoring, thumbs up & down, or a five star rating system, perfect for festival balloting or simply getting feedback on programming decision.  Results are tallied in real time and easily accessible to administrators.

1. Enabling Ratings for On Demand Content

To add ratings online to your content, log into the administrative portal of your On Demand account and navigate to SITE SETTINGS > Portal Settings and scroll down to the Ratings section.  By default it will be set to "No Ratings".  Click the drop down selector and choose the type of rating system you would like to employ.

Once enabled, the rating option will be present on your content's landing page, in the row of buttons beginning with the Play button that is located just under the content's description.

2. Disabling Ratings for Specific Content

If you've enabled ratings for your content but have some content that you'd rather not have the rating option available, it is possible to disable it.  Navigate to your video, playlist, live event or series, click on the sub-menu Display Options, scroll to the bottom and disable ratings for this specific asset.


3. Playlists: Ratings for Individual Components

By default, when ratings are turned on for your content, the rating option present for a playlist is for the entire playlist.  You can, however, change that to instead be for each component within the playlist.  Navigate to PLAYLISTS > select a playlist title > click the Display Options sub-menu and scroll down to the section Asset Rating section.   Enable the option to collect individual component ratings.

Enabling this feature will then present rating options for each of the individual titles within the playlist:


4. Viewing Ratings

You can view the ratings for any or all titles at any time.   Ratings are tallied in real time, so either of the following methods will have up to the second voting results.

For a specific title, click on your title and on the first screen you'll see the current voting results in the upper right.

To review a report on all of your titles' ratings, navigate to REPORTS > scroll down and select "Assets Rating Report".   Leave the % field empty for all ratings, or add in a watched % to only get ratings from viewers who watched at least X% of a title.



5. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do viewers see a cumulative or average score, or the scores of other viewers?
    No - only administrators see cumulative/average scores.  Viewers only see their own rating.
  • Does generating the report end the scoring, or can I check it multiple times?
    Generating the report doesn't end the scoring.  You can check it whenever and it will give you up-to-date results for all ratings so far.
  • Can a patron change their vote?
    Yes.  If a patron returns to the content's landing page they will see the vote they already made.  They can change their vote, for example by clicking on the thumbs up again (to remove it) or updating the number of stars they'd like to choose.
